THE STORY OF DELLA AND JOHN   Walking past the butchers, In Brownshill Green, A beautiful young Della, Is impressed by what she’s seen.   A young and handsome butcher, Going by the name of John, Is impressing the beautiful Della, Could this be the one ?   A courtship goes on to follow, Della’s family not so keen, But their love is too strong, To keep them apart would be mean!   October 23rd  1947, The scene is Christ the King, A crisp and autumnal day, When John gives Della the ring.   Starting married life together, With John’s loving Mum and Dad, Mary and Francis Curran, Gave them the best start they could have had.   They saved and saved, For what seemed like forever, A prefab in Whoberley,  Was their first home together.   Then off to Tile Hill,  To another prefab they go, Saved and saved some more, To get the home where their family could grow.   35 Proffitt avenue, In the heart of Bell Green, So much more space, It must have seemed just like a dream!   The Boyce’s at number 33,  And Mrs Marlow at 37, Their first proper home, It must have seemed just like heaven!   Their children were the most precious thing,  That Della and John did create, Fifteen altogether,  To which their love would translate.   Johnny, Jimmy, Victor and Norman, The first four sons for you, Then four lovely daughters, Margaret, Lorraine, Annette and Julie too.   Then Graham, Steven, Maria and Derek, The family is starting to grow! Adriana, Joanne and Martin, To the world they would bestow. Lots of adventures were had, Corley Rocks playing ‘hide and seek’, Coundon park playing rounders, So many happy memories for them to speak.   Then grandchildren to follow, Whom they loved all the same, They would love to visit their grandparents, From miles around they came.   Then off to 358 Wheelright Lane, Loving family nearby, Every one made welcome, To that all could testify.   Then a lovely Bungalow,  108 Ash Green Lane, Lots of family visits, The love was still the same.   John now looking after Della, Like he always tried to do, His deep love for his angel, Was always shining through.   Now both asleep together, In an ever loving embrace, Still alive in the hearts of many, Having made the world a better place.
